When your friends reveal that you are not as special as you thought

A friend and I are having an ongoing argument about the definition of Punk. At dinner parties, I keep saying "Punk is dead in NYC!" and expect people to close their eyes and emphatically nod. Instead, heads tilt and I think it's because I look the way I look and what do I know about punk anyway? That or they’re living under a rock. Could be both.
